You're already a professional trainer looking to refine your skills and dive deeper into theory and application
You're ready to leave your doubts and fears behind, and embrace a new way of training and interacting with your horse
Foundations of Cooperation: The Art and Science of Positive Reinforcement for Equines: is the second course in The Willing Equine’s three-part in-depth introduction to training your horse with positive reinforcement.
In part two of this comprehensive program, Foundations of Cooperation will refine the skills learned in Foundations of Trust and introduce your horse to 3 more Foundation Behaviors. Designed to be taken after Foundations of Trust, this course will expand your knowledge and build on the concepts learned in the previous course.
DURING THIS COURSE, YOU'LL LEARN HOW TO:
Train for Success
1
Avoid frustration for both you and your horse, create emotional balance, smooth mechanics, clear communication, & develop precise and flawless cues.
Balance the art & science of training
2
Learn how to apply the science, personalize training to your individual horse, increase creativity and enjoyment during sessions, and recognize when it's time to try something different.
Develop a Willing Partnership
Create a positive association with training for your horse by setting up your training environment for success, managing expectations, and recognizing discomfort and confusion.
3
YOU'LL CONTINUE TO REFINE THE BEHAVIORS LEARNED IN FOUNDATIONS OF TRUST,
AND INTRODUCE THE FOLLOWING FOUNDATION BEHAVIORS & CONCEPTS:
Cone Targeting
Similar to targeting, this is another easy-to-understand behavior with many uses. Cone targeting can be used to create patterns and clear visual destination points as a stepping stone for advanced groundwork, riding, and trailer loading.
A unique behavior that offers a tangible/visible cue or destination point for a horse. Incredibly useful when teaching your horse to tie, stand for grooming & tacking up, and as a start button for cooperative care behaviors.
Stationary Targeting
One of the most useful behaviors you can teach any horse is how to stay where you want them to stay. The stand-stay allows you to communicate to the horse that you would like them to remain in a certain location despite where you are or what you are doing.
