Time & Location

Aug 11, 2018, 8:00 AM – Aug 12, 2018, 5:00 PM

Starry Skies Equine Rescue and Sanctuary, 8133 W Liberty Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48103, USA

About The Event

This is a friendly, relaxed, all experience levels, and all disciplines, uniquely formatted clinic. We will be working exclusively with the horses available to us at the rescue (no outside, participant horses), but everyone, even the auditors, will actively participate in the clinic! I highly recommend attending both days, or at least Saturday. The clinic format builds on information over the weekend.

Active Participants - will be working hands on with the rescue horses, learning and practicing valuable skills for positive reinforcement horse training that can be used with any horse and in any situation. You will receive direct private and group class style coaching throughout the whole clinic as we practice with a wide variety of horses at varying levels in their training. ***Active Participants must attend both days***

Observing Participants - will also have opportunities to engage and receive coaching, while also having access to all the same information and observing the same training sessions as active participants. The only difference is that you'll not be receiving one on one hands on coaching with a horse, but don't worry, there will be so much information packed into this clinic you'll feel like you had all the same hands on experience. (Observing participant tickets will go on sale once Active Participant Tickets are 50% sold)

( If all Active Participant tickets are sold out, please purchase an Observing Participant ticket and you will have first access to upgrade your ticket should their be a cancellation. If all tickets are sold out please email me to be added to the waiting list at info@thewillingequine.com )

There will be live demos, lectures, and hands on training for everyone attending! Limited spaces available to approved horse/handler teams

Topics will include....

  • an introduction to positive reinforcement
  • how it differs from training with traditional and natural horsemanship methods
  • clicker training
  • how to safely introduce positive reinforcement to horses
  • behavior modification and management
  • when it's appropriate to utilize corrections in horse training
  • behavior and how your horse communicates; and what this has to do with training

No videos or pictures can be taken without permission by clinician and hosts of clinic.

Youth under the age of 18 must be attended by an adult unless specific permission is given by clinician AND hosts of clinic.

Saturday the 11th of August & Sunday the 12th of August

Start time is 8am - Lunch 12 to 1pm - End Time is 5pm

Please bring a lunch on Saturday and Sunday, there will be optional community discussion and socializing during lunch break!

There are no refunds for tickets or transferring of registration. Participant must be the original registered, however, please email me at info@thewillingequine.com if something comes up and you can no longer attend. If we have a waiting list and can re-sell your ticket we would be happy to do that for you.
